Lunch.. mmmm

Alzbeta Volk, you totally inspired my lunch today by your comment to my tomato post! I was in one of those- WHAT IN THE WORLD will I make for lunch moods, because we have NO food in the house! But then, I remembered you comment about sauteed tomatoes, onions and garlic over pasta or rice. I thought, boo- I can't eat pasta or rice- However, then I remembered, I have leftover spaghetti squash (which I was at a loss for what to do with it!) So, lo and behold, our lunch: I sauteed some tomatoes, onions, and green peppers with garlic in olive oil, threw in some fresh basil that I got free from the farmer's market and then tossed it with the spaghetti squash and topped it off with a little parmesan cheese. YUM! Something new and yet so deliciously summery! Thanks for the idea, buddy!

Preggo Pics

Here is a shot of my pregnant belly for all those of you far away. Getting bigger every day. Sorry about the quality- our camera is seriously acting up. Less than 6 weeks to the big EDD... but everyone knows that means absolutely nothing! :) Guess we'll have to find access to a better camera for the newborn pictures!

Don't Worry, Be Happy

So, the camera is down again- having some serious battery issues. But meanwhile, I have a cute story for you. One of my new favorite "Raymond-isms" is how he now understands emotions. So, if he can tell I'm upset with him for misbehaving, or not feeling well, or just in a glum mood- he looks at me with those puppy-dog pleading eyes and says, "Mommy, BE HAPPY!" Melts my heart- and forces me to smile. This morning, Kenny had one of those glum looks on his face because he had an upset stomach. Raymond noticed, stopped what he was doing, and ran over to Kenny to give him a big kiss. Kenny smiled, of course (because how could you not?) and Raymond got this huge grin on his face, saying, "Daddy is happy now!" He was proud that his kiss turned Daddy's frown upside down. Oh, how I love being a mommy. :)

Going to Kansas

And here are some shots and a video from our trip to Kansas this past weekend for the wedding of Kenny's sister, Annie.

Grand 'Ole Flag

We had such a great fourth of July celebration this year! First, we went to a fireworks show on Sunday night at Webster Groves. It was a great show and we sat so close. Raymond was fascinated but immediately after they ended, he turned around to find the "train" at the carnival behind us. It was a carnival ride that looked like a train, kind of. That kid sees trains in everything! It was a fun family night for us. Then, Kenny went into work late on Monday morning so we could first see the parade, also in Webster Groves. It was a nice cool morning thanks to the rain that poured on us soon after we got out of the car. Luckily, it came to an end right before the start of the parade. It is a great parade and so much nicer than trying to fight the crowds and parking downtown. (Not to mention the cost to park!) Raymond had a great time and is now very fond of patriotic songs, especially Grand 'Ole Flag. Finally, we joined some friends for a cookout and yet another fireworks show in Manchester. This time, we also sat very close. The show was almost too intense and the finally was so loud and so bright, I found myself covering my ears and closing my eyes! Afterwards, we were covered in fireworks guts- ashes were EVERYWHERE. I'd never seen that before, it was crazy! Raymond got to stay up super late both nights and I think he enjoyed it a lot!

Our kid eats a LOT!

Raymond eats so much for a two year old! Here is a comparison of our plates at dinner one night. Notice how there is not much difference in size. This was a few months ago and Raymond would not eat lettuce at this point- that is why he has some leftover veggies instead.
